    In a nutshell

    The Neusser Tafel is a non-profit association without ties to any national or local organisation. We work independently and are financed exclusively by voluntary donations made by the citizens of Neuss as well as local businesses. Donations are used to pay for rent, vehicles, insurances, repairs, etc.


    Our staff are largely volunteers who work hard in their spare time to run the Neusser Tafel. Our mission is to support needy people in Neuss by providing them with donated food and clothing.


    To this end, we collect discarded yet perfectly edible food, which we then serve to our customer at our food banks. The selection and amount of food offered varies from day to day.


    The Neusser Tafel helps any person resident in Kaarst, Korschenbroich, Meerbusch or Neuss. Our guidelines require that we screen every applicant to verify their need. To join our food bank, applicants must present valid proof of benefits in accordance with the German Social Code, volumes II and XII (SGB II and SGB XII). Our services are provided in addition to state support and are designed as a crisis response, to help destitute customers get back on their feet, not as a long-term solution. Our aim is to help as many people as we can with food, which means that we generally limit our support to 6 months, or in special cases, up to one year. Assistance is given on a purely discretionary basis, there is no entitlement to help.


    Our customers are divided into groups. Each group has access to the food bank at different times, which change on a monthly basis. The food bank provides each customer with 1 or 2 food baskets, depending on the number of persons living in their household.

    Secondhandladen: Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays from 15:00 - 17:00 h, Wednesdays from 10:00 - 12:00 h

    Lunchtime 50+: Mondays to Fridays from 11:45 - 14:00 h
